In today's world, the design of residential buildings is no longer limited solely to technical and aesthetic aspects; rather, due to the cultural and social complexities of societies, it requires consideration of the influences of indigenous culture on the design process.

Objective: This research was conducted with the aim of designing a model for the influence of indigenous culture on the design of residential buildings.

Method: This research employs a sequential and exploratory qualitative strategy. The statistical population in the qualitative section includes all academic experts and specialists in the fields of culture and architecture, from which a sample of 20 individuals was selected. The research instrument consisted of researcher-made coding sheets, the validity of which was confirmed by Delphi group members, and reliability was calculated at 0.95 using Scott's Pi criterion.

Findings: The research findings revealed that factors related to the model of indigenous culture's influence on residential building design are consisted of 16 categories and 46 conceptual codes, organized within the five dimensions of the paradigmatic model as causal conditions (3 categories), strategies (3 categories), contextual conditions (3 categories), intervening or mediating conditions (3 categories), and consequences (4 categories).

Conclusion: Overall, it can be concluded that the findings of this study, are applicable to develop comprehensive and diverse strategies for incorporating indigenous culture into residential building design at macro, meso, and operational strategy levels, thereby achieving the effective influence of indigenous culture in residential building design. The proposed model of this research can be utilized as an indigenous-oriented framework by urban policymakers, architectural designers, and housing institutions to preserve and strengthen the connection between contemporary architecture and the cultural and social roots of Iranian societies. Finally, proposed strategies—such as recreating traditional architecture in modern forms, enhancing culture-oriented education for architects, and involving local communities in the building design process—have been presented to help revive the role of indigenous culture in residential architecture.
