Abstract
This study aims to examine the role of contemporary Persian poetry in preserving and revitalizing Iran’s intangible cultural heritage. Using a qualitative content analysis approach, the works of three prominent modern poets—Nima Yooshij, Sohrab Sepehri, and Ghaisar Aminpour—were analyzed from a cultural and strategic perspective. Findings indicate that Yooshij revived local language and folk culture, Sepehri reflected the spiritual and philosophical heritage of the East, and Aminpour reinforced Iran’s national and cultural identity. The results suggest that contemporary Persian poetry, beyond its aesthetic value, serves as a dynamic medium for cultural transmission and identity formation, and thus can play a strategic role in Iran’s cultural policy and education. Therefore, contemporary Iranian poetry should be considered a living part of the country's intangible cultural heritage; a heritage that, in the form of words and imagination, perpetuates ancient Iranian values in the modern world. This conclusion highlights the importance of educational and cultural institutions paying attention to the role of poetry in preserving national identity.
